There is an evidence shows that about 25% of all accidents happens in the house are accidents in the bathroom. These accidents however, can be controlled and prevented start from designing process, choosing suitable bathroom furniture and outlets as well as following these instructions.
If possible, use tempered glass, plastic or any other materials that not broken and the fragment spread out. This to protect yourself from those fragments, in case of accident. Besides in case of these materials are broken, it would be very easy to clean because there is no piece of class spread out. You should not install glass or window too close to the bathtub, because in case you accidentally slip in the bathtub, you may hit that glass and you may got injury from the accident.
To install a knob, please use the type that can open from outside. In case of you or people in your family fall in the bathroom or other emergency, so others can come to help from outside.
In case you have hanging rails in the bath room, you should hang it above the eye level because most of hanging rails have hooks which very harmful.
Install a handle rail (L shape) at the bathtub or shower area in order to support yourself when accident and you can hold the rail in case of slip. The rail should be firmly installed and should have capacity to carry weight at least 100 kg. for minimum.
If you use carpet in the toilet, you should use tile carpet, which can be removed for cleaning and use the cotton carpet because this type is well absorb the water. You should also have an anti-slippery mat provide on the carpet.
If you have water heater, choose the type that has adjustable temperature control, and it would be better if the water heater also has automatic cut out when the temperature is too high. The proper temperature you should adjust to is about 36C so children and elder people can use the heater safely.
All electrical equipments in the bathroom such as plug, switch should install ground wire and should install electricity breaker in case of leaking and spark. The position of them also important, you should install those equipment up high above the wash basin tap to keep them away from sprinkling. The cover materials of plug and switch should be water proof.
If you use marble or granite as flooring material in the bathroom, these material will become slippery when wet and very slippery. So you should mark the floor in line pattern to protect slippery or use anti-slippery liquid coating on the floor.
You should often clean plastic bottles such as shampoo and liquid soap bottles, otherwise, they will become moulded. Make sure that you ware a gloves when you cleaning them because mould infection is difficult to cure and very harmful to your skin. In case if you have elder or disable people in your family, you should install emergency bell in the bathroom.
