I’m in my 30s and able-bodied yet need a bathmat for my new and freakishly steep bathtub/shower combo. The tub is deep and the sides are steep, and I’ve already fallen 5 times, hence the need for a non-slip mat.
PROS: I’m an adult, thus want a non-slip mat that doesn’t have Spongebob Squarepants or some Disney character all over it. This fits the bill, as it is attractive and discreet. I searched all around, and this mat was certainly the prettiest on the market (I have the clear version). Aesthetically, it’s a solid 5 stars.
CONS: Yowzer does this mat stink. Honestly, I opened it up and couldn’t believe the strong plastic odor. It’s borderline intolerable: Think rotting milk meets a gasoline pump. Despite washing, drying, and letting it “air out” in the sun, this mat reeks of chemicals. If the smell stays, I doubt I’ll keep this purchase. The more important issue is the mat’s “non-slipness” (I know that’s not a word). Wet and dry, this mat just doesn’t feel very secure under my feet. The suction cups worked fine, but the smooth pebbles don’t really provide a good grip. I haven’t fallen yet, but I also step on it with caution. I had high hopes, but the mat fails to provide the real secure surface I was searching for. In terms of utility, I give it 2 stars.
Averaging the pros and cons I’m giving it a just-barely 3 stars. Could be better, could be worse. I’ll keep it until the smell drives me mad OR I find a nicer mat that is appropriate for a non-5 year old.

When I placed this mat in the tub the suction cups did not hold and I almost fell. Then I ensured they were suctioned properly, but the entire mat was quite slippery and I was afraid I would slip and fall, especially when washing my feet! Also, the mat was quite small.

We order the mat so our daughter wouldn’t slip in the tub. We were looking for something functional that would still be stylish. This mat looks good in our bathroom, made our daughter more secure standing in the tub and feels good on your feet.

Good design, but the smell is terrible. It gradually (very gradually) gets better, but other manufacturers have similar products. I’d buy from them.
So I sent them an e-mail and I get this arrogantly unconcerned response: “The material used to make our shower mats has a natural smell, mostly from the plasticizer (material added to make it soft). The odor will go away with time but probably not completely. This smell can not be eliminated during the manufacturing process, nor is this considered a defect.”
Looks like a nice FU response to me.
Don’t buy this product.

This tub mat smelled so much of petroleum that I was unable to use it I would not recommend this mat to anyone.
